What is Poshmark and How Do I Sign Up?

New sellers are always asking me, “What is Poshmark?” You’ve probably been hearing a lot about the Poshmark app, and for good reason. Sellers are making extra money and even full-time incomes on the Poshmark app. So what is Poshmark all about?

What is Poshmark and how do I sign up

What is Poshmark?

Poshmark is a social selling app. Originally targeted to women and allowing only women’s clothing, sellers are now able to sell a wide range of products.

Unlike traditional internet sales sites like eBay, Poshmark is built on the social aspect of following, sharing, and liking. The idea is that you will follow and share the items of other Poshmark users, and they will do the same for you in return. This makes it so that the more you participate, the more likely your items are to show up around the app and potentially be purchased.

How do I get started?

Download the app in the iTunes app store or Google Play store. Once downloaded, sign up for an account (BONUS: use referral code KBUENOSTYLE when you sign up and you’ll get $5 credit towards a purchase!) Or click here to sign up and have the $5 credit automatically applied. After this, you can start listing right away! You can take photos from inside the app, but for the best shots you might consider taking them first and then editing them. I wrote a post about how to do this, which you can read here.

Is Poshmark safe?

Poshmark is very safe if you follow the guidelines. Poshmark advises against “trading,” and you must use the Poshmark shipping labels in order to be protected. When you sell an item, Poshmark holds the funds from the buyer until they receive your item and accept it. Since Poshmark does not allow returns, they give buyers three days from time of delivery to look over their purchase and confirm that it is indeed what they expected. Once they accept their item, you get your money and you’re good to go!
